Getting Here & Getting Around

Oakland is easy to reach by plane, train, and car — and most reunion venues are close to BART or a quick rideshare.

Flying into Oakland (OAK)

Oakland International Airport is about 8 miles from Jack London Square. Take the Airport Connector to Coliseum Station, then an Orange Line train to 12th Street/Oakland City Center. About 25–30 minutes total.

Flying into San Francisco (SFO)

BART provides direct service to downtown Oakland. Board a Red or Yellow Line train to 12th Street/Oakland City Center. About 40–45 minutes.

BART

Closest stations to Jack London Square: 12th Street/Oakland City Center (~15-minute walk) and Lake Merritt Station (~20-minute walk). BART now accepts contactless credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Clipper cards at the fare gates.

Rideshare

Uber and Lyft serve the whole area. Tesla Robotaxi (iPhone) also operates in much of the Bay Area — mileage-based fares, no congestion surcharges.

Parking by Venue

Friday – Lucy Blue (Uptown): Several nearby garages and metered street parking. Consider rideshare if you plan to enjoy cocktails. Saturday – Scott's Seafood: Jack London Square has several public parking garages within a short walk. Arriving 30–45 minutes early is recommended. Sunday – Skyline High School: Parking available on campus (details to come).

Things to Do While You're Here

If you're making a weekend of it, Oakland and Jack London Square have a lot to offer.

  • Stroll the waterfront promenade and marina
  • Visit the historic Jack London Cabin and Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon
  • Browse local shops and cafés
  • Karaoke at Dragon Gate restaurant
  • Free water shuttle between Jack London Square and Alameda
  • Explore Oakland Chinatown, just a short walk away
  • Oakland Museum of California — one of the Bay Area's best
  • Lake Merritt — a beautiful urban lake great for a walk
  • Alameda's beaches, breweries, and historic downtown
  • Fleet Week is that same weekend — you may see and hear jets flying in formation overhead
Weather in October

October is one of Oakland's nicest months. Highs 68–75°F (20–24°C), evenings 55–60°F (13–16°C). Bring a light jacket for the waterfront after sunset.

A note from the committee

"Reintroduce yourself. You've earned it."

Some of us look a little different. All of us have new stories. This weekend isn't about who you were at seventeen — it's about who you are now, and the people who knew you when. Come as you are. Say hi to someone you never spoke to in the hallway. Make one new memory to carry the next forty years.
